Therapy Clinics International
Therapy Clinics International (TCI) trains locals to offer basic physical therapy services for people with disabilities and their families. Its mission is to meet the need for accessible care while sharing the grace, hope, and love, found in relationship with Jesus. TCI currently has its roots in Guatemala, but with one billion people around the world affected by disability, many living in developing nations without easy access to rehabilitation services, there is much more to do – in Guatemala and beyond.
TCI was founded by Jennifer Hoines, PT, DPT, after sensing an invitation from God to reverse the traditional structure of humanitarian medical aid. Instead of serving as a physical therapist in one area with a limited reach, she chose to empower and educate local people to go out into their communities to do the work. Not only does this method increase access, but also it eliminates barriers. Local people already speak the language, understand the local culture and customs, and have relationships with those in their community. In this way, TCI seeks to help people find their identity in Christ, whether that be through providing rehabilitation services to a person with a disability or training people to serve in their communities to provide that care.
