Mark De Haan
Mark De Haan has been working in Ecuador since 2022. As a civil engineer, Mark supports the work of two organizations: Life Giving Water International and CODEINSE. Both organizations work alongside rural communities to provide access to clean water, demonstrating God’s love and providence, and encouraging community members to enter into, or continue growing in, their relationship with God.
Life Giving Water International, which is based in the US, seeks to “enable communities to improve spiritual and physical health through Life-Giving Water.” Mark supports the work of LGWI by reviewing engineering projects that could potentially receive financial support from LGWI. Mark also guides the LGWI internship program, equipping and training student engineers for future missions and community development roles. Finally, Mark facilitates visiting groups from churches and universities in the US, providing opportunities for academics and students to use their skills in technical ministry, and church partners to get a hands-on understanding of engineering missions. In these visits, groups have the opportunity to share Jesus's love with the communities through shared worship services or VBS lessons with community children.
Mark works day-to-day alongside Ecuador-based organization CODEINSE. Mark provides engineering services and encouragement for the national staff as they administer the engineering projects.
Mark feels the call in his life to be an agent of renewal and to work toward the reconciliation of all things, using his gifts and training to do this in the area of water distribution.
