Cindy and Jose Luis Pesina
Cindy and Jose Luis Pesina are missionaries who have been serving since 2006 in Tijuana, B.C., Mexico. They planted Gracia del Calvario (GDC), a Calvary Chapel church, in 2011, which serves people of all ages in a very impoverished area of Tijuana. The church now has local people to lead the congregation and the ministries under the guidance of the Pesinas. The ministry endeavors to see families and the community strengthened spiritually and physically to become leaders for Jesus Christ.
Gracia del Calvario also provides educational assistance for children and young adults. GDC annual school program has provided backpacks, school supplies, and uniforms to hundreds of kids every year. The church provides tutoring centers where children receive help with their homework and education. Most of these kids also receive a hot lunch daily. GDC hosts monthly medical clinics and other outreach ministries to serve this community that is in great need of the gospel, education, and discipleship.
Gracia del Calvario has three services per week which include a vibrant children’s ministry, an awesome youth ministry, and men’s and women’s Bible studies, with a focus on the Word of God and daily spiritual growth. Their main goal is to share Christ’s love, forgiveness, and the Word in such a way as to bring new life to people struggling in a community full of poverty, illiteracy, broken family relationships, drug abuse, and lack of hope. The vision of the church is to REACH, EQUIP and SEND.
Leadership training and development is an important part of the ministry as they teach the local people how to minister to their own community. They are now seeing youth from within the church attend Bible college and university and return to serve in their own neighborhood.
