Katya Jimenez

Katya serves among the dark streets of San José, Costa Rica, with an organization called Face of Justice, seeking to defend, shelter, empower, and love survivors of human trafficking through prevention, intervention, and restoration. Along with advocates, she engages in street outreach, day programs, raising awareness, and the safe house as practical means to bring Christ’s light into the darkness. Katya believes that the world is in the process of waking up to this reality and seeks to draw the Church into efforts that extend God’s love.

Katya was born into a Hispanic Christian home in Houston, TX, with a love for Jesus, her Cuban/Nicaraguan culture, coffee, books, music, writing, and travel. In 2016, God called her to full-time ministry while on a mission trip to NYC with her Church’s youth group, leading her to major in Christian Studies while in college. She began developing a love for Costa Rica after studying abroad in San José back in 2018 and has sensed God calling her there to partake in fighting human trafficking since the fall of 2023. Being one of the most economically stable countries in Central America, Costa Rica is a beautiful country to visit with its beaches, mountains, jungles, good food, and friendly people. However, this also makes it a popular hub for traffickers to bring men, women, and children to be exploited and is in desperate need of God’s saving grace to shine through.
