Dennis and Betsy Steinmetz

Dennis and Betsy serve the Kekchi Maya in the southern-most Toledo District of Belize. This is by far the poorest of the people of Belize. More than 50% of the children fail to complete high school, so their future without proper interventions is bleak. Alcoholism, drugs, promiscuity, and single parent families abound. Betsy uses Bible Studies in the villages of Punta Gorda and Laguna  to teach reading in both English and Kekchi to the adult ladies who never had an opportunity to attend school. Dennis, a retired Registered Nurse, currently pastors a church he helped to plant in the village of San Pedro-Columbia. He has had special training in Tropical Diseases, and provides teaching on Sanitation and Health maintenance, Malaria control, and even parenting skills; but especially discipleship according to Bible Principles. Both he and Betsy have been trained in Community Health Evangelism and Development, Crown Financial Management, Two Becoming One in  Marriage, and Raising Children Gods Way and use all of their education and experiences to benefit these people. They teach Christ and Him crucified above all, and believe that teaching true science points to the God of Creation, a God we can trust.
