Teddy Zewdu and Kidist Buli
Tewodros (Teddy) Zewdu was born and raised in Ethiopia. After Teddy became a follower of Jesus in 1992, he was involved in different outreach ministries that focused on reaching the lost. In 2002, he received additional ministry training at Africa Theological College for Evangelism & Mission in Uganda. Before he left for training, God told him that he would not only train abroad but live abroad and return to his home country for ministry. He married his beautiful wife, Kidist, in 2003 and moved to the United States of America, where they had their daughter, Sedey, after three years. They became members of Rehoboth Baptist Church, where he served as a mission pastor. Teddy began coordinating teams for short-term mission trips to Ethiopia. During one of those trips, he was reminded of what God had told him years ago about his return. To respond to the need for laborers to reap God’s great harvest in Ethiopia, Teddy and his family decided to move back to minister among the Wollo people group, where 98% of the population are Muslims,1.5% Coptic Orthodox, and only 0.5% Evangelicals. Through strategic outreach ministry, their plan is to lead others to follow Jesus, discipling them to mature and multiply. Their focus is on the following:
Sharing the love of Christ with everyone
Making disciples
Starting house churches
Mobilizing the local churches to be involved in community outreach.
Serving the needy families
How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” Romans 10:14-15
